Fitness was a natural career choice for Mell Barrie as she was active for most of her life. At a young age, she took figure skating and competed in dance, in jazz, tap and ballet. After a few years she started recreational trampoline. She stopped all other sports and activities to pursue trampoline competitively at age 11. Having won multiple medals after competing across Canada and getting a few injuries along the way, she decided to stop jumping and focus her energy into recreational dance and working out on her own at a gym.
After graduating from Humber College from the Fitness and Health Promotion program, Mell knew she wanted to motivate others to follow a healthy lifestyle. Over the last couple of years she has worked at a few gyms working one-on-one with clients, and running bootcamps. Mell loved the energy she got from helping people be active and working towards their fitness goals. She developed a passion for HIIT (high intensity interval training) and workouts with minimal equipment (kettle bells, slam balls, resistance bands, etc).
While in school, Mell was working as a server, where she developed a passion for food. She loves to cook and create new recipes for her friends and family. In 2016, she completed a fitness nutrition course (through ISSA) so she can help her clients with nutrition along with personal training as food plays a major role in achieving health and fitness goals.
